Our March 2022

Image
It was a full, slow, deeply lived month as we continue our Lenten practices , which grew out of the initial drive to simplify and slow down that began at the start of the year. This was also the month when Covid finally visited this home! Mr. had it for two or three days where he felt flu-ey and tired, but he was up and about again on day 3 and doing all the DIY he never gets to while working! And then N(7) was hit, two nights of high fever, and that was that.  So what else did we get up to this month? Lots of outings - the weather is improving! We visited the Botanic Garden for the first time At the zoo Interesting points of view at the zoo Adventurous walks... Rescued a worm A wet adventure Hooray for Spring and flowers! Enjoyed the local funfair coming to town! High flyer Exploring our local nature reserve again - bluebells all over the place Sadly no tadpoles at tadpole pond. There were thousands during the first lockdown two years ago, and none last year or this year... we wonder

We're right in the middle of Lent.  Our days and weeks at the moment are in a comfortable rhythm, with (fewer) regular activities and a really intentional choice not to fill time. To just allow ourselves to be . And it's an adjustment. As I've been asked before, what do our weeks look like? We don't do nothing, but we're a lot less scheduled than we used to be: Mondays : every other Monday we go to the Home Ed Co-Operative, and the other Mondays are 'off' (playdates or bigger all-day outings, like to the beach or the woods) Tuesdays : the free day, where we either go out into nature for the day or potter about at home.  Wednesdays : free mornings of pottering and play, then gymnastics at 2pm and on to the grandparents for the night and the next day. Thursdays : Grandparents' day, my working day Fridays : free mornings, usually that's when we visit the library; Mr. finishes work at midday and we usually try to have 'special time' with each chi
